Nia Jones, Bethan Dyke and Georgia Rowe boost Severn Stars’ squad

A trio of Wales internationals – Nia Jones, Bethan Dyke along with Georgia Rowe – have boosted Severn Stars Before the 2020 Vitality Netball Superleague season.

Dyke and jones will arrive after a prolific campaign as fresh signings from Celtic Dragons whilst Rowe re-signs last season.
Since she was 15, defender Jones has 36 caps for Wales and was enjoying for the Welsh youth groups.
“I really believe, with all the League becoming more and more aggressive every season, a group such as Stars can start challenging the classic top-four teams for a spot in the finals,” said the 27-year-old defender.
“They have improved each season and also have shown that in their day they can beat any team in the league. That to me shows not just a practice environment, but also a winning mindset and ambition.
“I’ve been buddies and team-mates with Georgia and Beth for a number of years therefore I think understanding one another’s strengths, triggers and traits around training or matches could benefit us as a franchise.”
The trio of players will be joining with Stars’ novice Liana Leota and will soon probably be working below the new head coach Melissa Bessell of the franchise.
Bessell has taken over the reins in the franchise following the passing of Sam Bird and such as Leota, Rowe has experience of working of their head trainer’s ways.
“I’m excited to be working with Melissa [Bessell] again,” the shooter stated. “She had been my first ever coach who introduced me into the match and taught me the fundamentals of being a participant, a professional and a team player.
“Melissa knows how to bring out my strengths and knows how to push me so I think it’s going to be good for me to be working under her .”
Bessell herself is incredibly eager to be linking up with the trio of Dyke, Jones and Rowe.
“Working alongside these three is a fantasy for me. I know what they are capable of and them all quite well. Georgia was performing well and I am looking forward to pushing her and watching her develop more.
“Nia must be one of the most passionate netballers I’ve had the joy of working together. It will be a lively, spine-tingling and strong defensive screen this season. Energy and nia attitude will improve that which we have this year.
“Bethan is going to be one to watch this season. Her movement is beautiful to watch, along with her skill with the ball, will deliver something special to Stars this season.”
Sky Sports is the house of netball and it returns to your screens shortly, starting with the British Fast5 All-Stars Championships on Saturday October 12, whenever they tour South Africa in November while the Roses return to activity under trainer Jess Thirlby.
